reflect and plan your garden

We have snow on the forecast so I'm not completely trusting that spring is really here, but I'll take the almost-60-degree weather today.

While I think utilizing the "freshness" of a new season, new week, new month, etc can be helpful and motivating, I also want to give you the caveat that there is no need to pressure yourself into doing anything!

Last year at this time I was taking care of myself and a new baby and to be quite honest, it felt like a "winter" time for me as I was in some ways hibernating and resting. I was keeping myself cozy as I rested and healed, slowing down, and not getting out as much as I even anticipated I would.

This year feels different as I feel a transition into more autonomy again as my baby grows, I feel more settled in the area where I live, and I feel more momentum in almost every area of my life. Both years have been beautiful and very challenging for me, but it is interesting to note that even the earth lives her seasons differently. Sometimes the snow stays for a long time, sometimes it's warm earlier, etc.

Anyway, today I wanted to just give you a few questions you might use to journal or just sit and think as we enter a new time of the year.

  1. Over the past few months of the winter season, what went well for me? What did I learn, accomplish, or observe in my life that I want to take note of?

  2. What challenges are coming with me into this next season of spring?

  3. What seeds would I like to plant this year? Remember you don't have to plant everything all at once!

  4. What tools, resources, support, or habits will I need to put into place to nourish and help those seeds grow?

  5. Do I feel confident and able to nurture that size of a garden right now? If yes, proceed! If not, see what you can maybe let go of for another season or even plant less of to be able to feel confidence.

  6. What is one small thing I can do today to start?

These questions aren't the be all end all, but hopefully they are helpful for your mind to organize and consider what might be coming next for you, and to properly prepare yourself for what you'd like to grow without overwhelming yourself!
